Daniel Bellegarde is a percussionist and composer who is behind the track Cazale, which is a composition that pays tribute to the Polish soldiers who deserted the French army of Napoleon and had the desire to restore slavery in Haiti. They fought alongside the Haitian army of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, helping to establish the world’s first free black republic and the first independent Caribbean state in 1804. Cazale is a small village 50 km from Port-au-Prince, populated by descendants of Polish soldiers.

Daniel Bellegarde has recently released his album Pastourelle which is available on all digital streaming platforms.
